Buen Día Privacy Policy
Effective September 29, 2026
Buen Día is an iPhone app made by Dyor Labs LLC ("we", "us"). It helps you learn Spanish by playing podcast episodes one sentence at a time, with the Spanish and an English translation on screen.
The short version: Buen Día does not collect, store, or share any personal information. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. Everything the app learns about how you listen stays on your iPhone.
What happens on your iPhone
To show you each sentence, Buen Día downloads a podcast episode and then:
- Transcribes it with Apple's on-device speech recognition.
- Translates it with Apple's on-device translation.
- Finds ad breaks by comparing sentences with ones it has heard in other shows, so it can skip them.
All of this happens on your device. The audio, the transcripts, the translations and anything derived from them are never sent to us or to anyone else. The first time you use it, iOS may download Apple's Spanish speech and translation models; that download comes from Apple and is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy ↗.
Buen Día does not use your microphone, camera, location, contacts or photos.
What is stored on your iPhone
Buen Día keeps these on your device so it can pick up where you left off:
- Episodes you've started, with their audio, transcripts and translations
- Where you are in each episode
- Words you choose to save
- Your settings (for example, the slow-playback speed)
- Fingerprints of sentences it has heard, used only to recognize ads across shows
You can remove an episode by swiping it away in the Library. Deleting the app deletes all of it. This data is not backed up to any server of ours; if you use iCloud Backup, it may be included in your device backup, which Apple handles.
Network requests the app makes
Buen Día only connects to the internet to get podcasts:
- Podcast publishers' servers, to download a show's public RSS feed, artwork and episode audio. This is the same request any podcast app makes.
- Apple's podcast directory (the iTunes Search API), to search for shows by name and find their artwork.
- Spotify, only when you paste a Spotify link: the app opens that page to read the show's name, then looks for the same show's public feed.
Like any web request, these servers can see your device's IP address and the request made. Their own privacy policies apply to what they do with it. Buen Día sends them no personal information and nothing about your listening.
Children
Buen Día is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it on this page and change the effective date above.
